100 Years of Winnie the Pooh: A Balloon-Filled Celebration at Teeq
Share
A hundred years old, and still mostly thinking about honey. Honestly, Pooh, we respect the commitment.
2026 marks 100 years since the publication of Winnie-the-Pooh, and a bear this loved deserves a proper celebration. There should probably be cake. Definitely friends. And, at Teeq, a few balloons.
We have released three new Winnie balloon embroidered pieces to celebrate the anniversary: a butter-yellow oversized cardigan, a blue denim jacket and a pastel checked scarf. Before we meet them, let’s take a little wander back to where the stories began.
When is Winnie the Pooh’s 100th anniversary?
The first Winnie-the-Pooh story collection was published on 14 October 1926, written by A. A. Milne and illustrated by E. H. Shepard. Its 100th anniversary falls on 14 October 2026.
That is the milestone we are celebrating: a century since the first book, rather than a hundred years since Disney’s version arrived. Pooh had appeared in earlier writing, but the 1926 collection brought those Hundred Acre Wood adventures together in the book that started it all.
One hundred years later, the appeal still feels wonderfully simple. A friend to visit. A small adventure that becomes a very big one. Something nice to eat afterwards. Not a bad plan for a weekend, either.
A few little Pooh facts for the birthday party
Christopher Robin was inspired by Milne’s own son, and his toys helped inspire the animal characters. The name Winnie came from Winnipeg, a bear at London Zoo. A favourite toy and a real bear helped give us one very familiar fictional friend.
And here is one for Tigger fans: he joined the book adventures in The House at Pooh Corner in 1928, rather than the first 1926 collection. A little late to the party, perhaps, but never short of enthusiasm.
Balloons belong in the story too. In the opening adventure of the first book, Pooh tries using a balloon to reach honey in a tree. It is a very Pooh sort of plan: ambitious, snack-led and not entirely straightforward.
Why balloons for our Winnie the Pooh anniversary releases?
There is something fitting about celebrating this milestone with Pooh and his friends floating beneath pink and blue balloons. It feels playful, full of friendship and ready for a birthday.
Across our three new releases, Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore share that balloon theme, but the embroidery takes a different place on each piece. The cardigan spreads the friends across the front, the jacket gathers them on the back, and the scarf brings them into a pastel checked design.
These are Teeq’s celebratory releases for the anniversary, bringing a little Hundred Acre Wood nostalgia into outfits you can make your own.
The Winnie balloon cardigan: birthday sunshine in butter yellow
Our Winnie Balloons Embroidered Yellow Oversized Cardigan (£40) is the sunshine of the trio. Balloon characters decorate the front, with pockets, a button-through fastening and an “oh bother” detail on the sleeve.
Made from soft polyester with a relaxed oversized fit, it comes in S/M, UK 10–14, and M/L, UK 16–20. Try it over a plain white tee with jeans, or pair it with cream trousers for a softer colour combination. The embroidery brings the party; the rest of your outfit can keep things simple.
The Winnie denim jacket: a celebration from every angle
The Winnie Balloons Embroidered Women's Denim Jacket (£35) has an “oh bother” detail at the front, balloon embroidery on the sleeve and the four friends gathered across the back.
It is the piece for anyone who enjoys a little reveal. A small reference at the front, then a whole balloon adventure when you turn around. Wear it over a plain dress with trainers, or with a white tee and black trousers to give the colourful embroidery room to stand out.
Check the size selector and any measurements on the product page when choosing your fit, particularly if you plan to layer underneath.
The Winnie balloon scarf: a little Hundred Acre Wood colour
Our Winnie Balloons Embroidered Scarf (£30) brings lilac, blue and yellow checks together with fringed ends and embroidered balloon characters.
For a simple Winnie the Pooh-inspired outfit, let it be the finishing touch to a plain coat and jeans. The pastel colours and little floating friends give you the character reference without needing to build your whole wardrobe around it.
It is also a lovely starting point for a Pooh anniversary gift when you know someone’s favourite stories better than you know their cardigan size.
How to wear a little Pooh nostalgia
Choose one piece to lead your outfit. Let the yellow cardigan bring the colour, the denim jacket show off its embroidered back, or the scarf add a pastel finishing detail. For a Disney day, start with clothes and footwear you already find comfortable, then add your Winnie layer.
But you do not need a park trip booked to celebrate. A favourite story can come along on a coffee run, a weekend walk or an afternoon with friends. Preferably an afternoon involving cake.
Here’s to 100 years of Winnie the Pooh
A century on, there is still room for small adventures, familiar friends and a bear whose priorities remain reassuringly snack-based.
Celebrate with our yellow oversized cardigan, blue denim jacket or pastel embroidered scarf. Three new releases, four familiar friends, and a very happy hundredth.
